On my farm, I have goats, fowls, and two pussy cats. My farm is starting to look like a zoo and I anticipate such.
Look at what happens on my farm, whenever I finish cooking and bring down the pot to start eating. Everyone will assemble and be eager to jump into the pot if care is not taken.
And this serious craving for cooked food did not start when I brought them all in. It only started the time I allowed them to taste the sweetness of salt and oil.
Then let’s consider the content that makes humans addicted to salt and oil. The human addiction to salt and oil involves a complex interplay of biological, psychological, and environmental factors. We will only go with the biological factors.
Salt: Historically, salt was a rare and valuable resource. Human bodies evolved to crave salt because it is essential for maintaining fluid balance, nerve function, and muscle contraction. Our ancestors who were better at retaining and seeking out salt had a survival advantage.
Oil (Fat): Fats are a dense source of energy, which is crucial for survival in times of scarcity. Fat also helps in the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, and K). Hence, humans evolved to prefer high-fat foods as a strategy to store energy.
If we humans are addicted to salts and oil for the above reasons, that is why animals fed with the two find it difficult to leave your homes even if it was a wild animal before.
Then let us consider what makes humans addicted to cigarettes and marijuana before I tell the story of how I stopped smoking the two.
WHAT MAKES US ADDICTED TO CIGARRETH AND MARIJUANA
CIGARETTE ADDICTION:
The addictive nature of cigarettes is primarily due to a substance called nicotine. Nicotine is a naturally occurring alkaloid found in the tobacco plant.
Let’s consider the mechanism of action:
— Absorption and Rapid Delivery: When a person inhales cigarette smoke, nicotine is quickly absorbed through the lungs into the bloodstream and reaches the brain within seconds.
— Neurotransmitter Release: Nicotine stimulates the release of several neurotransmitters, including dopamine, which is associated with pleasure and reward. This release creates a sensation of euphoria or a “high,” reinforcing the behaviour of smoking.
MARIJUANA ADDICTION:
Marijuana addiction, while not as intensely physical as some other substances, is driven by a combination of its chemical composition, psychological factors, and social influences. Let’s see the chemical composition and effects.
Chemical Composition and Effects:
Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC):
THC is the primary psychoactive compound in marijuana. It binds to cannabinoid receptors in the brain, particularly in areas associated with pleasure, memory, thinking, concentration, movement, coordination, and sensory and time perception. This interaction can create feelings of euphoria and relaxation, which can be reinforcing for users.
These factors are the reasons why we are addicted to cigarettes and marijuana. Do they have a good side? Yes, they do but the negative effect is more dangerous than we think. One of the major dangerous effects of smoking cigarettes and marijuana is CANCER.
Having looked into the addictive nature we exhibit as human beings, let’s now look into how I quit smoking the two substances.
HOW I QUIT SMOKING CIGARRETH AND MARIJUANA
I tried quitting so many times but I couldn’t. Sometimes I would quit for some months and see myself going back to the same behaviour.
I tried all sorts of ideas taught by habit coaches but to no avail. It does not mean they are not telling the truth, but it did not work for me and I know it doesn’t work for many that is why many who wanted to quit can’t.
Tried listening to friends and family who advised me to quit both with a harsh voice and a calm approach. Avoided friends who smoke, and equally tried replacing the habit with a more healthier habit.
I started eating biscuits any time I felt like smoking and guess what, I did not know when I developed another habit of eating excess biscuits which resulted in excess sugar consumption. I did all these but to no avail.
Then, how did you quit? I guess this is your question now that you’ve heard the story of my inability to quit smoking before.
But before that, let me leave you with the dangerous signs and symptoms I started getting in my body system.
I started having severe pains any time I lay on my back facing the ceiling. I could not be able to breathe straight without constriction within the process of breathing.
One day I examined the palm of my hand and that of my legs and saw that I had a lot of black patches which signifies excessive deposition of carbon on my born marrow and blood stream.
Which was the reason why I had waist and joint pains those days.
Which I have not experienced again since I quit. Then let’s get to the main story.
Well, my story is that of Universal arrest which I know can happen to any person because I applied the principle.
After I tried all that I mentioned above I started talking to the Universe(God). And I don’t know whom you worship or talk to which I don’t care. For me, I worship Jehova the Universal God and know that what I talk into existence emanates which is the law of manifestation. So always examine your thoughts and words because thoughts are things.
I created a routine of telling my creator what I needed both morning and night. Look at how I do pray to my God:
“God my Lord, I tried many times to stop smoking but to no avail. And deep inside my heart you know I wanted to quit, so why not help me? So by the power you have given to me, I declare that I will hate smoking. Amen”
After saying this prayer for like seven days I switched my mode of prayer to this: “Thank you God for having helped me stop smoking.”
After I started thanking my God for helping me quit smoking even though I have not yet quit, do you know what happened next?
One morning I woke up refreshed and abruptly hated the cigarettes and marijuana I had. I quickly rushed to where I kept them, picked them all and burnt them. That was how I stopped smoking for four years now.
Do you call this miraculous or what? No! It is the process of the law of give and take which is done through manifestation because, with that, anything you need is possible both good and bad then, why not use it toward achieving a good fit for yourself?
